All Knauf Insulation products are inherently sustainable. This is because in addition to enhancing energy efficiency, they are largely manufactured from recycled and renewable materials. They also save hundreds of times more energy during their lifetime of use than was required to create them.
In addition to the sustainability of our products, we are committed to a responsible and sustainable manufacturing process. For example:

In Europe in 2008, Knauf Insulation Glass Mineral Wool was typically made of an average of 50% recycled content glass. This is a significant rise from the 40% of recycled content glass use in 2006.

Over the last decade, better process controls and manufacturing improvements have enabled us to reduce the energy used in glass wool processing from 35% to 50%, depending on the plant.

In the last two years, improvements in packaging have allowed us to decrease the carbon footprint of our transport by 20%. This has included the use of compression packaging which allows glass mineral wool to be compressed by up to a twelfth of its original volume. This means more glass mineral wool can be carried on a lorry which reduces the environmental impact of transportation.

We have reduced our glass mineral wool waste levels by 15% over the past three years.
